- Morgantown, W. Va., Aug 7 -- Funeral services for Edward J Berry, 64, well-known local businessman, who died suddenly at his home on Harper Street Sunday, were held this afternoon by the Rev. Benton Roy Hanan, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Born March 5, 1882 at Pekin, MD., Mr. Berry was a son of the late Charles D. and Hannah Gwynn Berry. He had been a resident of this city for 23 years, having come here from Newburg. He also lived at Bayard, W. Va., where he was engaged in the confectionery business.
Mr. Berry had been working as a shop foreman at Christopher No. 5 Mine at National. He was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics at Barton, MD. and a member of Local 4040, United Mine Workers of America.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minne Lourverna Chanoweth Berry; four children, Edith L and Josephine Berry, both at home; Walter G. Berry, of Baltimore, and Mrs. Inez McDonald of Morgantown; two brothers, Harry Berry, of Barton, and William Berry of Lonaconing, MD.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Dohms of Lonaconing and Mrs. Helen Reinhold of Akron, Ohio, and five grandchildren.
